The Piano Day Festival invites pre-college pianists to perform two prepared works for an experienced listener in a welcoming, non-competitive environment. Each student receives individualized written feedback and a Piano Day Certificate of Participation in recognition of their achievement.
Outstanding performers may be invited to appear on the culminating Piano Day Recital at the recommendation of Piano Day Festival Listeners. Festival participants are also encouraged to apply for the afternoon Masterclass for additional individualized instruction.
The Piano Day Festival is designed to encourage confidence, curiosity, and artistic development. By combining performance opportunities, expert feedback, engaging activities, and exposure to historical instruments, Piano Day offers a meaningful and memorable educational experience for young pianists and their families.
Piano Day Activities

Music Games & Activities
Between performances, students participate in interactive music games and learning activities designed to reinforce rhythm, listening, and basic theory skills. These sessions create a relaxed, enjoyable environment where young musicians build confidence, connect with peers, and engage with music beyond the piano bench.

Harpsichord Demonstration
Students are introduced to the harpsichord through live demonstration and guided listening. Participants learn about the instrument’s mechanics, history, and repertoire while observing professional performances. This session provides valuable historical context and broadens students’ understanding of keyboard traditions.

Piano Day Recital
The Piano Day Recital serves as the culminating concert of the festival. Selected students present polished performances in a formal setting for families, teachers, and community members. The recital celebrates musical growth, artistic achievement, and the shared learning experience of Piano Day.
