Northern Colorado Piano Day

A Day of Performance, Learning, and Musical Community

Northern Colorado Piano Day is a one-day educational experience designed to inspire, support, and connect young pianists, teachers, and collegiate musicians across the region.

Hosted within the University of Northern Colorado’s All-Steinway School of Music, this free public event brings together high-quality performance opportunities, expert feedback, professional development, and community engagement in a welcoming, non-competitive environment.

Through festivals, workshops, demonstrations, masterclasses, and concerts, participants engage in meaningful musical experiences that foster confidence, artistry, and lifelong learning.

Northern Colorado Piano Day welcomes:

  • Collegiate music students pursuing teaching and performance careers
  • Professional piano teachers and studio instructors
  • Families and community members who support young musicians

All events are free and open to the public.


Featured Piano Day Events

Piano Day Festival

The Piano Day Festival provides pre-college pianists with the opportunity to perform in a supportive, non-competitive setting while receiving individualized written feedback from experienced educators. Each student performs two works, receives a certificate of participation, and may be selected to appear on the culminating Student Recital.

Guest Masterclass

Selected students work individually with Dr. Jenna Braaksma in a public masterclass focused on thoughtful musicianship, technical efficiency, and artistic development. Participants receive personalized instruction, performance guidance, and practical strategies that support confident, expressive, and sustainable long-term musical growth.

Pedagogy Workshop

The Pedagogy Workshop provides collegiate and professional teachers with a peer-reviewed forum to share research, teaching strategies, and innovative approaches to piano instruction. Through presentations and discussion, participants engage in meaningful dialogue that promotes professional excellence and inclusive educational practice.

Students perform for Festival Listeners and receive written feedback and participation certificates.
Practice rooms are available for warm-up.
