Eun-Hee Park and Hyeji Seo Guest Presentation

Join us for a special presentation by Dr. Eun-Hee Park and Dr. Hyeji Seo as part of their residency at the University of Northern Colorado. They will then present a piano duo recital at 5:00 PM in Milne Auditorium (Kepner Hall). We hope you will join us for this special event.

Praised by The New York Concert Review for “a solid foundation of fluent pianism” after her debut at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, Korean pianist Eun-Hee Park enjoys a diverse career as soloist, chamber musician, and educator. She has given numerous concerts throughout the United States, South Korea, Japan, Italy, Brazil, and Costa Rica appearing in various prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, the Seoul Arts Center in South Korea, and Izumi Hall in Japan. Park has been a recipient of many awards including Global Music Awards (2025, 2023, & 2022), The American Prize (Finalist in Chamber Music Performance, Semi-Finalist in Virtual Performance), the Special Prize for the Performance of Contemporary Music at the Competition Internationale, first prize at Oklahoma’s Young Artists Competition, and first prize at the Concerto Competition at Colorado Mesa University. She has received numerous grants such as Music Fellowship Grant by the Alabama Arts Council, Teaching & Scholarship Project Grant, Research & Creative Projects Grant, Concert & Lecture Grant, Graduate Student Academic Conference Grant, University Musical Associates Grant, and the James and Lola Faust Chamber Music Scholarship of the Mu Phi Epsilon Foundation.

As a founding member of enhakē (www.enhake.org), the prize-winning clarinet-violin-cello-piano quartet, Park has received many awards and grants, including Global Music Award’s Silver Medal in the Chamber Music Category, First Prize at the Yellow Springs International Competition, Gold Medal at the International Chamber Music Ensemble Competition, the Judges Special Recognition Prize at the Plowman Chamber Music Competition, and an Encore Grant from the American Composers Forum. The group has released albums on the Naxos, Emeritus, MSR Classics, and Capstone labels, some of which were featured on NPR stations and the Korean Broadcasting System. The Naxos album Gulfstream was selected as BBC Music Magazine’s Music US Choice, MusicWeb International’s “CD of the Month,” and Naxos Critics’ Choice. Concerning this particular album, Gramophone stated, “[p]ianist Eun-Hee Park’s fast, light-fingered touch…provides numerous moments of purely physical delight.”

A Nationally Certified Teacher of Music in Piano (NCTM) and Steinway Educational Partner, Dr. Park is a sought-after adjudicator and clinician. Park has held educational residencies at Escape2Create at the Seaside Institute in Florida and with Albany Symphony Orchestra, Tallahassee Youth Orchestras, and the Costa Rican-North American Cultural Center. She has given masterclasses at numerous universities and high schools in the United States, South Korea, Costa Rica, and Brazil, as well as frequently invited as adjudicator and judge for competitions and auditions nationwide. Dr. Park is the pianist of the Rawlins Piano Trio and serves as Assistant Professor at the University of South Dakota. Her previous appointments include serving as Associate Professor of Music and Head of the Keyboard Area at the University of Montevallo, the Hartt School, Music in the Mountains Conservatory, University of Southern Mississippi, Southern Mississippi Piano Institute, Westport School of Music, the Chapel Hill Chamber Music Workshop, Interlochen Arts Camp, Oklahoma City University, and Principal Pianist for the Albany Symphony Orchestra. Park holds degrees from Florida State University (D.M.), Oklahoma City University (M.M.), and Colorado Mesa University (B.A.). Her teachers include Carolyn Bridger, Amy I-Lin Cheng, Ernestine Scott, Michael Baron, Timothy Olsen (Organ), and Karyl Louwenaar (Harpsichord).

Dr. Hyeji Seo

A Korean-born pianist, Hyeji Seo brings cantabile lyricism and sincere, passionate musicality to her performance. A versatile artist, she is active as a both soloist and collaborative pianist, performing throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia.

As a soloist, Seo made her New York debut in 2016 at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall and has since performed at venues such as the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia, Miller Theatre, and the William Stewart Memorial Shell in Michigan. Her performances have taken her to cities across Colorado, Michigan, Illinois, Mississippi, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Arizona, and South Korea.Seo has earned top prizes in the American Protégé International Piano and Strings Competition, the International Music Competition “Brussels” Grand Prize Virtuoso, and the International Piano Association Competition, and has been recognized at the Ise-Shima International Piano Competition in Japan.

Her debut album, Melodies from East Asia (Navona Records, 2025), has received international recognition for its artistic depth and cultural significance. Interlude.hk praised her playing as “both delicate and confident,” noting her nuanced interpretations and consistent artistic voice, while iReview.kr highlighted her ability to transcend time and space through expressive and thoughtful performances. The album has been featured on public radio in Virginia, Massachusetts, Florida, and Kansas City and includes a world-premiere commission by the Korean Society of Women Composers. This project reflects Seo’s ongoing commitment to culturally rich repertoire and the promotion of underrepresented voices, a mission she also advances through The Music We Write, a concert series she founded in 2023.

Seo is a frequent guest with her performance and teaching at national and international events and academic institutions. She was invited as an artist faculty at Interharmony International Music Festival, Italy and faculty at Blue Lake Fine Arts Summer Camp. Her recent engagements include a lecture presentation at the Colorado State Music Teachers Association Conference, performances at the Opening Concert of the National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy, and guest appearances at Wuhan Conservatory of Music (China) and Gangneung–Wonju National University (Korea). She has also appeared at the College Music Society National Conference, the Music by Women International Festival, and the Women Composers Festival of Hartford. She frequently serves as an adjudicator, including for the MTNA Colorado Competition and the International Keyboard Odyssiad & Festival.

A highly sought after collaborative pianist, Seo has invited at major events including the International Horn Symposium, the International Double Reed Society Conference, Encore Series in Italy, National Flute Convention, the Colorado Flute Fair, and Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp Recital Series. Deeply committed to community engagement and inclusive pedagogy, she supports underserved students and musicians with disabilities through teaching, presentations, and service. She is also serving as VP at FCMTA where she coordinates pedagogy program, connecting local teachers and university faculty/students in town. She supports financially for students as a registered teacher at MusicLink foundation.

Seo holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance and a Master’s degree in Collaborative Piano from Michigan State University. She is currently Assistant Professor of Practice in Collaborative Piano at Colorado State University, where she teaches class piano and chamber music.
